If one partner file for divorce and other one doesn’t agree with the decision or terms and contest that divorce petition in a court, this is called a contested divorce.
For filing of the contested divorce, a divorce petition is to be drafted and presented in court. A contested divorce is one where the husband or the wife wants a divorce, but the other doesn’t.
